Andorra World Cup

We just had our first day of practise here in beautiful Andorra. It is a pretty short track, muddy, rutty and rooty. It rained all of yesterday and is predicted to keep raining – so spikes will come on for tomorrow’s practise. The bikes are feeling great and it is awesome to be back on the bike. The valley is amazing, massive, steep mountains covered in snow and the views are majestic. Thanks to Fluidride for getting all our gear ready to go for these races! You guys ROCK!

Mashatu Bike Safari in Botswana

In a last minute rush, Megan and I decided to book ourselves and our husband’s on a four day bicycle safari that started only 2 days after the finish of the Cape Epic.

“What were we thinking?”, we kept asking ourselves this question on day 4, 5 and the rest of the Epic. It was done though, no turning back at this point. (more…)

Oakridge trail riding mania!

So with the snow not wanting to melt here in Bend, a whole bunch of us decided to go camping and riding in Oakridge for the weekend. I was super excited, because we got April Lawyer to leave her store for a while to come shredding with us. She still kills it on a bike even though she has been slaving away at her super dope clothing boutique here in Bend. (more…)

Fluidride: Viral Video

This one is called, “Taco Lunch.”

You’ve got to say it like Jerry does here in the video. It’s more fun that way.

Widebars are here!

widebars.jpg

We now have all of the first three available wide handlebars in stock.

We have Sunline V1’s (29.5″), Diety Dirty Thirty’s (30″), and Gravity Lite’s (31.5″!!!) all in stock, come while supplies last.

As an instructor, I’m constantly trying to work on getting riders in the proper position on their bikes. One of the best things I’ve done for my own riding is to get bars that fit my body properly. Now when I look back at old pictures and video of myself, I’m surprised I was able to ride as well as I was with standard width bars. Having bars which are too narrow force the riders elbows in and put a lot of pressure into the shoulders when braking, which keeps the riders’ center of gravity too high in their body. Within minutes of changing to wider bars, I could feel the changes I was able to make as a result. Riding in what I call the ‘throne’ position has always been a goal of mine, and getting bars that fit me properly made an immediate difference to my body position, which not only made me feel faster and better positioned, but also gave me greater control due to the leverage they provide.” – Simon Lawton

Fluidride Cup #2 “Justice Served”/Results

Simon Lawton by Stewart MillerWell, I’d have to say that this was one of the most competitive “grassroots” races I’ve ever attended.

(Ride the course with Griz from Decline)

The weekend of racing started with the dual slalom on Saturday. The men’s pro division saw a repeat of round one, with Fluidride/Virtual Descent riders Lars Sternberg and Casey Northern taking the top two spots. Ethan Mutoli (Rotec) and Ben Storar (Cannondale) rounded out the top four. Leanna Gerrard (Cannondale) took top honors in the womens division, besting Katie Holden (Katieholden.com) for the top tier of the podium. (more…)

Spring Thaw DH race, Ashland OR

This past weekend a whole crew of us from Bend went down to Ashland to race at the Spring Thaw Downhill race. We were all excited to leave behind the still snow covered trails here in Bend in exchange for some dark, loamy, tacky, elevated dirt in the Siskiyou mountains. (more…)
