Sven had to go and do a photo shoot in Chatel this past weekend in the Porte de Soleil region, and I decided to jump in on this opportunity and to invite myself along for a bike ride. It was so beautiful, you criss cross in and out of France and Switzerland, catching chair lifts up and down everywhere, dodging cows and thunder storms and with some 800+ km’s of trails, you will never find yourself on the same trail twice. I have just been riding around in the farm valleys where my sister lives, so to go and do some real xc riding again sounded pretty exciting to me! I took off the first day with a map and an all access pass and tried to find my way around while Sven was busy with the shoot. The 16 Euro all access lift pass worked and somehow I managed to find my way along this plotted out route - I was very chuffed, because my map reading skills are pretty damn shite! It was great to spot a little town in the valley and just make your way down there and then hop onto the nearest chairlift only to be taken up, up and over to another valley and a new mountain range in a new country… The next day I dragged Sven out with me and we got soooo lost sooooo many times, but it all turned out well getting to the car in a massive thunderstorm downpour. Loads of fun was had on this 2 day adventure! It will take years to explore this whole area, and will definitely be on my list of places to go back to.
