Mt Hood Momentum Super D Recap

While this race was called the Momentum Super D, it probably should have been named the Momentum Enduro DH, as there were no real climbs involved in the race. (more…)

Super D Track Update

Just rode the track at Hood on my 6″ bike. It was super fun, although the track is very rough and loose on the top half. This may be one of the rare long Super D tracks that may well be faster on a dh bike. I also felt a little naked in my shorty helmet…so bring whatever bike/safety options you have. SO beautiful up here right now – the weather is unreal…and the single track is ripping…
Hope to see you here this weekend!

FR Cup Round 5 Recap

Round 5 of the Fluidride Cup has come and gone. Riders arrived to Port Angeles and were treated to blue bird skies, and a dusty, slippery and very fast course. I think most riders would agree that Dry Hill in Port Angeles is even tougher in the dry than in the mud. The courses get SO fast and loose.

The Evil Men’s Pro DH saw Aussie sensation Bryn Atkinson (Crank Brothers/Intense) take honors with local ripper Lars Sternberg (Transition) on his heals only 1.5 seconds back. Third place went to California’s Brad Oien (ODI-Southridge) with Kiwi shredder Kierin Bennett (Intense-X fusion) and JD Swanguen (Intense/TLD/ODI) rounding out the top five. These races are getting tough for anyone to win, especially the locals. Lars was the only Washington rider to make the top 5. So far Bryn Atkinson as attended three FR Cup events over the last two years, and has a perfect track record. The only other rider to do that has been Curtis Keene (Specialized) – who’s also has a perfect 2 for 2 FR Cup track record. Now we just need to get these two to the same race and see what happens…

In the Kona Women’s Pro DH, Dawn Fiedler (Speedy Beavers Racing) took the win over Leanna Gerrard (Cannondale) by only a second. Some close racing to be sure. Nice job ladies!

Top Honors in the Junior Expert Men’s Division went to Luciano Worl (Fluidride/Evil) who’s time was fast enough to net him 9th overall, and a few bucks to be used toward his trip to Australia for the World Championships – Go Get em’ Looch! Evan Gisdorf (Downhill Zone) took the runner up position. Third place went to Andrew Widman (Finatyk). Great to see Andrew tearing it up. I can remember only a little over a year ago when Andrew was making the switch from Sport to Expert. Way to pin it Andrew!

Big thanks go out to everyone who made their way out to Dry Hill. Thanks also go out for a job well done by the guys at N’ Dub Productions as well as the entire crew at Hurricane Racing. These guys are a big part of making this event happen, so be sure to thank them when you see them.

Of course we’d be nowhere without our great series sponsors – Huge thanks go out to: EVIL BIKES, FOX SHOX, KONA, E-THIRTEEN, CLIFF BAR, SCOTT, JONES SODA, BRASHERS AUTO AUCTION, SHILOH CYCLES (thanks for the HUGE raffle), CORSAIR BIKES, GRAVITY, MACE, ODI, STEVENS PASS, ROCKSTAR ENERGY (awesome job with course decorations!), DAKINE, TRANSITION, AND PINK BIKE.

We’ll look forward to seeing everyone for the final round on Mt Hood September 24-26th
