Well, I’d have to say that this was one of the most competitive “grassroots” races I’ve ever attended.

The weekend of racing started with the dual slalom on Saturday. The men’s pro division saw a repeat of round one, with Fluidride/Virtual Descent riders Lars Sternberg and Casey Northern taking the top two spots. Ethan Mutoli (Rotec) and Ben Storar (Cannondale) rounded out the top four. Ready to improve your results and ride faster with more control? Come and attend the first racing clinic of the 2008 season at Port Angeles’ Dry Hill on Saturday and Sunday May 3rd and 4th.
The clinic will offer riders the opportunity to learn with Pro riders/instructors Simon Lawton and Lars Sternberg. The use of our follow cams and our Freelap timing system will allow riders to make tangible improvements to their race times.

The first Fluidride Cup in history has gone down as a huge success. We had 235 riders entered in Sunday’s Downhill, and 41 racers entered in Saturday’s Slalom. There were 15 pros, 14 Semi Pros, and 3 Pro women in attendance. We handed out over 50 temporary licenses to first time racers, and 47 annual memberships! The weekend of the first Fluidride Cup race is fast approaching and Fluidride Riders Lars Sternberg and Casey Northern have been working around the clock to get things dialed for the throngs of racers expected to show up this weekend. The two, with the help of the Port Angeles and greater NW riding community, have put together an amazing dual slalom track to compliment the great DH tracks in store for riders. Check out the slalom course to see what it looks like when Lars and Casey aren’t holding shovels at virtual descent.

We have been entertaining the idea of changing the course venue for the # 2 Fluidride cup at Ski Bowl. Mt Hood has been hit hard this year with snowfall and it is looking like there will still be some coverage come race time in May. This is why there have been some recent changes to the schedule on the FR Cup Page.
After careful deliberation we have come to the decision to stick with the original schedule and Venues. The second Fluidride Cup will be held on Mt Hood as planned regardless of snow level. If the regular courses cannot be used, the race will be held on the Bridal trail. If the snow level prevents a slalom to be held, the slalom series wil be converted into a best 4 of 5 race series. If the Bridal trail is used, bring your 6″ trail bikes as this more Super-D trail than DH. Continue reading ‘Fluidride Cup updates’
