Welcome to Advanced Trail Skills!

Beyond cornering, there are so many skills that can absolutely transform the way you ride. This course focuses on the ways we can use natural terrain to our advantage, and see all-new possibilities on every trail.

We’ll practice active pumping, which uses the natural rollers in the terrain to generate speed. We’ll also distinguish this from passive pumping, which is most commonly used when the terrain is too difficult to pedal, or when your speed is too high to physically respond to the undulations. We’ll also work on trail manuals and bunny hops, which help us clear obstacles on the trail. Lastly, we’ll cover featuring, which allows us to use terrain (such as a root or rock) to get air and clear things down trail.

If there’s time, we might even throw in a little wheelie practice.

Advanced Trail Skills covers:

  • Pumping (both active and passive)

  • Trail Manuals

  • Bunny Hops

  • Featuring (getting air off natural terrain)

  • And if there’s time - Wheelies!
