Welcome to Ladies(+) Air 101!
This is the best place to start for all levels of air skills! This course helps you understand the mechanics of jumps, common mistakes, and how to jump cleanly with a smooth arc and landing. It also reinforces drop technique that is sustainable for all types of drops. We also work on featuring, allowing you to get air off natural terrain. You’ll thank yourself when you can pop *over* the wet roots rather than plowing straight into them! Even advanced jumpers will benefit from this class, as we help you fine-tune your techniques to unlock more advanced skills and improve consistency.
Air 101 covers:
Jumping
Dropping
Featuring (getting air off natural terrain)
Who: Lady Riders 16+ (inclusive of female-identifying, women, trans, femme, and non-binary+)
Prerequisites: None
Skill Level: All Levels – all jumps are tabletops (no gap jumps)
Duration: 1 day x 2.5 hours
Location: Duthie Hill Mountain Bike Park, Issaquah, WA.
Where to meet: The group will meet in the central clearing of Duthie Hill park, next to the large covered shelter. Plan on arriving early (we recommend 20-30 min) so you have time to park and pedal into the clearing.
What’s next?
After this course, we often recommend:
This is a great course to repeat! Clean and consistent air skills take time, and we can’t emphasize foundational skills enough
Air 201 – when you’re ready for gap jumps
2-Day Intermediate Air – this will refresh the skills you learned in Air 101, and then move into Air 201 curriculum including gap jumps
