John Wendl, Instructor

“Mountain biking has given me so much over the years. Now I’m looking to give something back by sharing my passion, experience, and knowledge with riders of all ability levels and helping them ride to their full potential, safely and with a huge smile on their face!”

John recently joined Fluidride as a part-time Instructor and has been a student of Simon’s for nearly a decade.

John brings a lifelong passion for bicycles that began at a very early age.  Starting with BMX Racing and Freestyle competition in his youth, he discovered mountain biking in the late 80’s (Yes those bikes were as dangerous as they look! ), and over the past 12 years, he’s enjoyed competing in road races, cyclocross, XC and more recently, gravity races in Enduro and Downhill.

John has extensive experience teaching and coaching on 2 wheels, from bicycles to motorcycles.  For over 10 years, he instructed for a high-performance motorcycle school on racetracks around the country.  More recently, John has coached and instructed mountain bike skills with local Washington Student League teams and is also a volunteer instructor for Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.

When not on his bike, John works at Xbox for Microsoft as the Head of Franchise Content for the Forza Racing franchise.

As a father of 2 teenage girls and a demanding fulltime job, John knows what it’s like to fit riding, racing and/or training into an incredibly busy schedule.  He enjoys helping riders find their ideal balance so they can continually improve on the bike, no matter what their goals are, and enjoy everything this amazing sport has to offer.

John also really enjoys instructing newer riders and helping them demystify many of the complex concepts, debunk common misperceptions, and build correct habits from the beginning.  All while helping riders stay safe yet challenged, but out of the fear zone, where it’s hard to learn.
