John Wendl, Instructor
“Mountain biking has given me so much over the years. Now I’m looking to give something back by sharing my passion, experience, and knowledge with riders of all ability levels and helping them ride to their full potential, safely and with a huge smile on their face!”
John has been part of the Fluidride team for several years and has been a student of Simon’s for nearly a decade.
A lifelong cyclist, John started with BMX racing and freestyle before discovering mountain biking in the late ’80s. Over the past 12 years, he’s competed in road races, cyclocross, XC, and more recently, Enduro and Downhill.
John brings extensive coaching experience, from high-performance motorcycle instruction to mountain bike skills with Washington Student League teams and Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance.
As a father of two teenage daughters, he understands the importance of balancing riding, racing, and life, and enjoys helping riders achieve the same balance while continually improving their skills.
John is especially passionate about teaching new riders, helping them build correct habits, debunking misconceptions, and riding safely while staying challenged—but out of the fear zone.
Here’s what riders are saying about John:
“For the first time, I felt like a “mountain biker,” not just a guy riding a mountain bike. You managed to show and tell me how to unlock the next (big) step in cornering and in flowing at speed.”
“John you were God Send. In my culture u have the concept of a Guru…. I found mine. Thank you for everything!”
“I really was pumped when you got me through the entire gravy train set. I haven’t felt that excitement in some time on the bike.”
